Petition launched to close schools in Hungary
According to the signatories, everything except the lower grades should be closed.
Hvg reports that educators have launched an online petition demanding the closure of higher education institutions, high schools, and primary schools, as well as the transition to digital education.
Action is needed to prevent the coronavirus epidemic. They say:Â
This is important to protect the lives of our students, teachers, and their families.
There are even Fidesz members who want restricting. It can also be said in general that more and more people are supporting school closure. However, for the time being, the government insists that “the country must work” and try to avoid the digital switchover in any case.
The Teachers’ Union has previously called for regular testing of teachers and for exempting endangered teachers from working. The government has so far rejected all requests, although more and more European countries initiated a second closure due to the worsening epidemic situation.
